The addresses and phone #'s of the following Funeral Homes were pulled from the 1998-1999 Bell Telephone Directory for the Kingston area.
Nancy Matheson provided a list of funeral homes that are currently operating, and which have some significant history within the community. If you know of other funeral homes that operated in the past, please send me a note about it with such things as operating period, address, and so on...... Thanks.
The addresses and phone #'s of the following Cemetery Companies were pulled from the 1998-1999 Bell Telephone Directory for the Kingston area.
Each has long term historical significance for the Kingston area.
There are, as well, a great number of smaller cemeteries and burial grounds that are associated with various churches. For the most part there are no offices or attendants on duty at these smaller cemeteries, and one must usually contact someone at either the appropriate church or at a Funeral Home to find out more about them.
Volunteers with the Kingston Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society have transcribed almost all of the inscriptions from all extant stones in almost all large and small cemeteries in Frontenac County.
Most of the transcriptions are included in the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid (OCFA). All of the transcriptions that exist, inlcuding those indexed in the OCFA, are available to purchase from the Kingston Branch Publications Committee - see their complete Publications List for details. If you are not interested in purchasing the entire published work, one of our Consultants or Researchers would probably be able to help you fairly reasonably.
