from within the the entire eastern area of the Province of Ontario, Canada.

To POST A MESSASGE to this List,
send your regular email message to:

EONTGEN-L@post.queensu.ca

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - / / / / /\ \ \ \ \ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Any message, query, announcement, or statement concerning any subject germaine to
the History, the Geography, and/or the Genealogy
of the south eastern area of the Province of Ontario
is WELCOME.

Postings can be distributed through the List ONLY
when they are received from valid subscribers.
(This is a SPAM proofing requirement)

Postings MUST originate through the same email address
as was used to activate a subscription.

If these conditions are met, messages you send to
EONTGEN-L@post.queensu.ca
will be received by every subscriber to the List within a few hours.

Based on current Listserv Software settings,
you will receive an acknowledgement that
your posting has been received by the Server, and
you will also receive a copy of your message as distributed through EONTGEN-L.

Remember to use SUBJECT HEADINGS wisely and effectively.

Only messages shorter than 250 lines will be accepted by the EONTGEN-L server.
A very large .GIF graphic image file distributed through the List one day caused some serious disruptions.
A message length limit of this size will hopefully prevent such a thing from happening again.

Round-Robin discussions and responses to postings which are of general interest are encouraged,
but cross-posting to other Newsgroups or Lists is discouraged.

that have been distributed by the List server!

Personal responses to messages posted through EONTGEN-L
should generally be sent privately to the originator,
rather than globally to the List
unless the response will be of wide interest.

Distributing messages of a
"please read and then forward to as many as you can..." nature
will see your ability to post messages to EONTGEN-L curtailed.

Please note - direct posting of COMMERCIAL ADVERTS is NOT permitted.

Nor are direct postings by those with commercial signature files
or by those whose business name is included in either their 'From:' or 'Reply To:' email fields
acceptable!
- see our Policy Statement on Commercially Focused Postings for an elaboration.

PLEASE - do NOT send ATTACHMENTS as part of your submission to this List.
Please read over some aspects of Posting Etiquette, so that you don't ruffle any feathers.....

This List is currently un-moderated, but it is monitored.
Flames will be quickly extinguished!

EONTGEN-L encourages valid enquiries and discussions about the people, places, and events of Eastern Ontario.
Surnames of participants would be expected in any posted enquiry or discussion. And background information supporting those enquiries and discussions should be, and usually is, included as a part of each enquiry.
But, series of simple 'ROLL CALL' type postings, where only lists of "here are the surnames I'm searching" are offered, will not be tolerated.

Please, contact the Listowner
if you have any doubts as to whether the information you wish to post is acceptable or not.
